I remember the 1st time I played good quality dvd rips on an amiga syste, through froggerng on amithlon/os3.9. Having said that though I do still play around with amithlon sometimes, as they (amithlon/os3.9 and AROS) have a little bit of a different amiga flavor (much in the way Id use os4.x and mos sometimes if I had the hardware they run on). Some of my favorites amiga years were spent using it, and its only really semi recently that Ive started using AROS as my x86 'amiga' rather than amithlon. Slightly off topic, but I was (and still am) a big fan of Amithlon. Amiga OSXL though now is no longer sold due to legal reasons, so as suggested if youve obtained it, its an illegal download. Both have an updated os3.9 with boing bag1 installed, but apart from speed there's no real difference in terms of the OS compared to the 'normal' os3.9 version (a user can install boing bag1 on normal os3.9 as well if they chose and so on). Amiga OS XL is a package that contains 2 emulators, AmigaXL, which runs on top of QNX 6.x and sort of merges the 2 oses to a degree, and amithlon, which sits ontop of a linux based kernel, but gives the user Amiga OS only, but with direct hardware access to the system its running on and a few other advantages.
